Alexander S. Edelson, Associate

Alexander S. Edelson is a trial and appellate litigator.  He has a variety of litigation experience in trial and appellate courts and in a range of practice areas, with an emphasis on antitrust, the False Claims Act, and general commercial litigation.  He also has experience in telecommunications disputes, agency proceedings, and intellectual property litigation.

Before joining Robbins, Russell in 2015, Alex worked as an associate at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, P.L.L.C.  From 2010 to 2011, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joel M. Flaum of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. 

Alex graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 2009.  He received a B.A. with High Distinction in 2007 from the University of Michigan, where he majored in economics and political science.

Representative matters include:

  • Represented class of direct purchasers in four-week jury trial alleging a price-fixing conspiracy.  Jury rendered a $1.2 billion verdict after trebling against one defendant.  Before the trial, all other defendants settled with the class.

  • Successfully defended telecommunications company against antitrust, Lanham Act, RICO, and state-law tort claims.

  • Represented class of direct purchasers alleging that the defendant unlawfully acquired and maintained a monopoly, and successfully obtained class certification.

  • Defended telecommunications company in numerous state courts against claims under state and county false claims acts and state-law tort claims.

  • Defended former directors of a life insurance company against allegations that they breached their fiduciary duty.

Professional Activities, Publications and Honors:

  • Named a “Rising Star” in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Washington, D.C., editions of Super Lawyers Magazine, a Thompson Reuters publication.
